Coldplay The Scientist Video
A theory making sense of Coldplay's music video 'The Scientist,' found in the YouTube comments, of all places
Note: The music video is a story told in reverse so the theory starts by talking about the end of the video and works backwards. From user Mango Monkey
'I think I finally understand the video. I kept thinking it made no sense that he woke up from a car accident and abandoned his girlfriend to die (Everyone else is mad about that too). But that is just not the case. There are many interpretations, like he is a ghost and such, but here is mine:
(The video)
The car accident actually never happened at all. The car accident symbolizes the death of their relationship. Essentially Chris Martin and his girlfriend run into an unforeseen problem represented by the truck that ran them off the road, and it ended in them breaking up. He leaves her body because thats how some relationships end. Some people walk away fine and others never fully recover and die (Metaphorically). Notice how he takes off the black jacket after the car accident. The color of it is black, which usually represents something negative. He takes it off to reveal the white shirt underneath, a shot at a new life without her, a new person not bogged down by their dying relationship. His expression while he wears the jacket is solemn, but after he takes it off and leaves her he eventually regains his happiness. The final moment, or the beginning of the video is of him closing his eyes and resting happily alone (Or single).
(The lyrics)
The lyrics on their own tell an interesting story about a man who spends so much time working that he never finds time for his wife who eventually leaves him. And in the end he wishes that he could go 'back to the start' and fix things.
However, the lyrics when put into the video give us another view. Though he has moved on from his girlfriend, from time to time he finds himself traveling back to the good times they had together. But remembering the good times is double sided, as when he thinks of the good times he also remembers the horrible crash (Or the break up).
Its funny how even after all the good things you go through, in the end, you remember the bad things the most. Thanks for reading!'

“The Scientist Sheet Music Lyrics Coldplay”
Come up to meet you, tell you I’m sorry
You don’t know how lovely you are
I had to find you
Tell you I need you
Tell you I set you apart
Tell me your secrets
And ask me your questions
Oh, let’s go back to the start
Running in circles
Coming up tails
Heads on a science apart
Nobody said it was easy
It’s such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be this hard
Oh, take me back to the start
I was just guessing
At numbers and figures
Pulling the puzzles apart
Questions of science
Science and progress
Do not speak as loud as my heart
Tell me you love me
Come back and haunt me
Oh, and I rush to the start
Running in circles
Chasing our tails
Coming back as we are
Nobody said it was easy
Oh, it’s such a shame for us to part
Nobody said it was easy
No one ever said it would be so hard
I’m going back to the start
Oh Come up to meet you, tell you I’m sorry
